Before & After Laser Hair Removal
Please follow these guidelines to help your treatment run smoothly and support the best possible result. Ellie will confirm any personalised instructions during your consultation.
Before Your Appointment
- New clients need a consultation and patch test before their first full treatment.
- Shave the treatment area about 24 hours beforehand, unless Ellie gives you different instructions.
- Do not wax, pluck or thread between sessions; the hair needs to remain in the follicle.
- Avoid tanning and fake tan on the treatment area. Tell us about recent sun exposure or self-tanner, as we may need to move your appointment.
- Arrive with clean skin: no make-up, deodorant, perfume, oils or lotions on the area being treated.
- Tell us about any changes since your consultation, including new medication, skincare, illness, cold sores, pregnancy, skin irritation or a recent tan. Do not stop prescribed medication without speaking to your prescriber.
After Your Appointment
- Mild redness, warmth or small bumps around the follicles can happen. A cool compress may help; do not put ice directly on the skin.
- Treat the area gently. Avoid scratching, exfoliating, fragranced products and active skincare until it has settled.
- Avoid hot baths or showers, saunas, swimming and strenuous exercise for the period Ellie advises after treatment.
- Keep the area out of direct sun and sunbeds. Once the skin is comfortable enough for products, use a broad-spectrum SPF 50 on exposed areas.
- Do not wax or pluck between sessions. You can shave again once the skin has settled, following Ellie’s instructions.
- Hair may appear to grow before it sheds. Results vary, and a course of treatments is usually needed.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction. Hair grows in cycles, so a course of treatments is usually needed. Results vary depending on the treatment area, hair and skin type, and individual response.
Maintenance sessions may be recommended. Please contact the clinic promptly if you develop blistering, marked pain, worsening redness or an unexpected skin reaction. Seek medical advice if the clinic is unavailable.

Can I have laser hair removal if I have a tan?
No, you cannot be treated if you have an active tan (natural or fake). The area must be your natural skin tone to safely perform the treatment.
How long does a session take?
Treatment times vary depending on the area being treated. Small areas like the upper lip take just a few minutes, while larger areas like full legs may take up to an hour.
